HMC MKIV CONVERTIBLE
HMC might not be as well know as TVR but when it comes to building phenomenal drivers cars, the tiny, short-lived Gloucestershire concern was the match of the Blackpool bruisers. HMC set out to create an Austin Healey for the 21st century, taking the 1960s car's template of brutal power and superb handling all wrapped in an achingly beautiful body. Only 187 MkIV cars were made - each one handbuilt using a tubular chassis and glassfibre body - which makes the HMC a very rare treat for any performance car enthusiast.
HMC called the car a MKIV because it is officially a 'continuation car' following on from the 1960s MkIII Austin Healey. It was developed with input from the Healey family and retains the classic Austin Healey looks but uses modern running gear, luxury fittings and a powerful 3.9 litre V8 engine.
The Great Escape Classic Car Hire HMC Austin Healey is one of the last made (in 1999) and is available to hire from our base in Shropshire, which is ideal for touring the county and Wales. The base is near Shrewsbury just off the A5.

This makes it easier and more enjoyable to drive than the older cars, without losing the essential 'Healey' character. It is perfect for enjoying the Cotswolds lanes or long distance weekend cruising.
The Great Escape car is one of the last HMCs ever made and features a classic combination of light metallic blue paintwork over cream with a grey leather interior and walnut dashboard.
