IMPROVING FUEL ECONOMY

Fuel prices have risen by over 30% during the last 12 months.  We're open enough to admit that our classic cars are not the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road - after all, they were built when energy usage wasn't an issue.

Most of our customers are pleasantly surprised by how low the cost of refuelling our cars actually is.  A typical day out in one of our cars will probably cost you less than you think in petrol.  However, to help you keep fuel costs as low as possible we've produced this simple checklist of ideas - many suggested by customers - that could help you cut your fuel consumption by 25%.

1.  Drive as smoothly as possible and anticipate road conditions - avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking

2.  On motorways and dual carriageways keep below 70mph - it is much more economical

3.  Try garage 'superfuels' - they cost a few pence more but do have a noticeable effect on fuel economy

4.  Check the oil and water levels regularly - low oil or water will increase engine workload and reduce fuel economy

5.  At traffic lights and in long jams, switch the engine off if it is safe and appropriate to do so
