Great Escape Cars has recruited its fifth apprentice in just two years. The new recruit, Ben Soley, joins the Redditch company during National Apprentice Week as a Customer Service Apprentice.

Ben will receive full on-the-job training managed by Heart of Worcestershire College.  On successfully completing his apprenticeship Ben will be offered a full time job with Great Escape Cars. His role will be to support the company's classic car hire operations, preparing cars for hire and managing the handover and return process with customers. With cars hiring out for up to £399 per day, customer service is critical to the business and Ben will play a pivotal role in delivering.

Great Escape Cars, which employs 10 full time staff and 5 part time staff, operates a hire fleet, classic car workshop and TV/film car business from its Worcestershire base.  The company took on its first apprentice in early 2014, adding four more apprentices across its workshop, office and customer service functions in the intervening two years. The first two apprentices have now qualified as mechanics and have full time jobs with the company.

"We began taking on apprentices to full the skills gap in our workshop," explains Graham Eason of Great Escape Cars. "It was virtually impossible to find motivated and qualified mechanics so we decided to train our own.

"Apprentices have proved to be enthusiastic, quick learners and willing to work to our priorities. What started as a means to an end has turned out to be one of the best decisions we've made."

Great Escape Cars operates a fleet of 30 classic cars, which are all maintained by the company's in-house workshop.  The company also services, maintains and restores cars for local owners.
