Clarkson loves it, you can drive it

Jeremy Clarkson says it has the best name ever to grace a car, Hammond and May donned bushy moustaches just to drive one.  Yes, the Jensen Interceptor received the BBC2 Top Gear seal of approval last night (July 24th) in a 10 minute homage to this fabulous fastback coupe.

The Top Gear piece bemoaned the lack of Jensen Interceptors in TV detective programmes (actually, it appeared in The Saint but no matter) and proceeded to create their own 1970s-esque title sequence to their very own TV detective series, featuring the Jensen Interceptor of course.  Jeremy Clarkson also drove a 'modern' Jensen Interceptor S, which is made in Banbury, but seemed to feel the original was still the best, heaping praise on its gorgeous styling and non-more-70s 7.2 litre V8 engine.

"It is great to see the Jensen Interceptor getting the attention it deserves," says Graham Eason of Great Escape Classic Car Hire.  "We've been hiring out Jensens since 2006 and it seems that Top Gear has finally caught up with what our customers have always known - this is a wonderful GT car that evokes a lifestyle that has now vanished."

Great Escape Classic Car hire has the largest fleet of Jensen Interceptors to hire in the world, with customers coming from across the UK as well as Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and America to sample the delights of the continental cruiser from West Bromwich.  You can hire a Jensen Interceptor in Yorkshire or Worcestershire for the Cotswolds.  Prices start at just £245 for 24 hours, including unlimited mileage, comprehensive insurance and full AA nationwide breakdown cover.
