Spider Getaway
The groom wanted a romantic open top sports car to surprise his wife with when they left the church. He chose the Alfa Spider because of its looks, colour and romantic style. We worked with his best man to plan the event, which included delivering the car to the church and leaving it with the keys in.
On the day we parked the car beside the church, decorated it with matching ribbons, left the keys dangling in the ignition and stood discreetly out of the way.
The bride and the wedding party were amazed to see the car and even more astonished when the groom jumped in and started it up. The couple drove off with the wheels spinning and the bride clutching her head-dress!
We collected the car from the reception after all of the photography had been completed. "We had to drag them away from the car to meet the guests!" said the best man. Total cost for this experience? £250.
London Calling
Few will admit it but for most grooms the choice of wedding car is probably more important than anything else. We delivered the Jensen to central London for one such groom. Bering based in London he wanted us to deliver the car rather than for him to collect it; we're happy to do this when necessary - although most people prefer to collect - and arranged detailed delivery and collection times. But despite our planning we didn't realise that he was actually picking up the car en route to the wedding. We handed the car over in a car park and then met him again the next day. "The car was the star," said his new wife. "I was so amazed and everyone just wanted to admire it." And it turned out that her uncle had been involved with liquidating Jensen in the late 1970s.
Welsh Wedding
We had a call from a groom whose lifelong wish was to drive an Interceptor for his wedding. It usually works out cheaper - and more enjoyable - for customers to collect the car because it gives them more driving time. We recommended this solution and arranged additional driver cover for his best man and ushers. Once again the car was the star of the show and our 24 hour hire periods enables him to collect and return the car without increasing the number of hire days.
