The original Volkswagen Golf GTI is one of the truly great cars of the last 30 years.  The car that kicked off the hot hatch and brought performance cars to the family man is finally available to hire as a classic car.

Great Escape's classic, fully restored 1982 VW Golf GTI Mk1 is the only one of its type available to hire in the world. It is finished in iconic Mars Red and is fitted with the free-revving,  fuel injected 1600 Volkswagen engine (for some afficionado's, the best Mark 1 powerplant). The car is in excellent condition and available to hire from our base in the Yorkshire - it's perfect for touring the excellent local driving roads.

The original VW Golf GTI Mk 1 was a total revelation when it was launched in 1975.  It was the first front-wheel-drive performance hatchback that drove and handled like a sports car.  Backed by the quality and reliability of Volkswagen, the orginal Volkswagen Golf GTI remains a benchmark for hot hatches to this very day.
