Great Escape E-Type
Our E-Type is an original UK supplied Right Hand Drive (RHD) Series 3 V12 5.3 litre convertible with matching numbers. It features the desirable specification of original Old English White paintwork, wire wheels, manual gearbox and power steering. The Jaguar was manufactured in 1972, at the height of the fuel crisis, which probably explains why it wasn't registered until March 1973. With petrol prices at sky-high prices (sounds very familiar), a 12-cylinder supercar, even one as beautiful as the E Type, had fairly limited appeal.
The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jaguar EType spent its first 25 years in Buckinghamshire in the hands of two owners who maintained it fastidiously, including a major body restoration in the early 1980s. In the late 1980s it moved to Worcestershire with two further owners, including a Jaguar specialist, who also lavished more time and money on maintenance and restoration.
In 2004 the E-Type was fully undersealed, the engine bay detailed and the interior completely retrimmed in black (it was originally dark blue). The car has covered a fairly high mileage for an E-Type, most ly in its first 10 years, but regular exercise and care throughout its life has ensured it is a highly useable and enjoyable example of this beautiful car.
