CLASSIC CARS OF THE 1950S

The 1950s was a decade of massive social and economic change.  Sandwiched between the war years and the liberalisation of the 1960s, the middle decade of the twentieth century is often overshadowed.  But anyone who grew up during the 1950s experience vast upheaval.

The cars of the 1950s reflect this change, and none more so than the venerable Morris Minor.  One of Britain's first new post-war vehicle designs, the Morris Minor evolved from a basic and quite agricultural machine into Britain's very own Beetle - a true people's car.

Hiring a classic car from the 1950s is a great nostalgia trip.  Our customers include people who want to relive the cars of their youth, their first car or just slow down and enjoy a quieter pace of life.  With a car from the 1950s suddenly liufe moves more slowly and it's difficult not to relax.

Great Escape's representative of 1950s motoring is a beautiful 1957 Morris Minor Traveller 1000. The Trav One Thou or Moggy as these cars were affectionately known adopted the 'woody' wagon style popular in America to create a versatile and hugely popular 'estate' for the masses.

Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor Traveller from 1957 for self drive rental in the Cotswolds

A day in our Morris Minor Traveller 1000 really is a great escape, but it is definitely our most gentle option.  Classic car hire should be about slowing the pace of life right down and enjoying the moment.  The woodie Morris Minor Traveller does just that and is perfect for a romantic getaway, whether it's a sitting on the back with a great picnic enjoying a great Cotswolds view, or pootling around the lanes.  After a day in the Cotswolds taking pictures of the Morris Minor Traveller we know first hand that this lovely little car gets attention and creates smiles wherever it goes.  To check prices and availability, click here

Please note that, although entirely legal, the Morris is not currently fitted with seatbelts (as a 1957 car they weren't fitted when it was new).  Click here to find out about our Morris Minor Convertible.

The Morris is only available to hire from March to October.
